She survived but has suffered from severe epileptic seizures ever since. The military and civil defence patrols had called a meeting at the school and then killed 92 villagers. The Agua Fría massacre is one of the cases of genocide for which human rights organisations are campaigning to have the former dictator Efraín Ríos Montt prosecuted.Louisa Xitomul Toj (57), Panacal, Rabinal. Louisa’s husband (in black-and-white photo) and three of her brothers were killed by soldiers and civil defence patrols on December 4th 1981. Their bodies were found in a mass grave with 47 other victims. The soldiers raped Louisa.Maria Eustqui Uscap Iboy (39), Río Negro, Rabinal. Maria is one of the few survivors of the massacre in Río Negro in February 1982 when the military and civil defence patrols murdered 143 people. Maria lost her mother, father, sisters and other family members.
